Information Technology

1. Overview of the Information Technology Field

Information Technology is a field that studies systematic approaches to select, develop, apply, integrate, and manage secure computing technologies. In the academic year 2023-2024, the Information Technology (IT) program at CMC University focuses on training orientations in Systems and Integration; Computer Networking; Information Security; and Computer Engineering.

2. Information Technology Training Program

The program is designed according to the standards of the American Computing Machinery Association (ACM), the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology – ABET, and the Fundamental Information Technology Engineer standard within the Japanese Information Technology Standard System (ITSS).

The program is constructed based on the training programs of leading universities domestically and in the United States, particularly those with ABET-accredited programs such as Carnegie Mellon, University of Washington, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Science and Technology, University of Information Technology – Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City, University of Engineering and Technology – Vietnam National University in Hanoi, and with consultancy from experts in large IT corporations both domestically and internationally, especially from IT and communication technology experts of the CMC Technology Corporation.

3. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Gained After Completing the Program

The Information Technology (IT) training program is designed to develop a combination of knowledge, technical skills, and behavioral regulation to transform “know-what” into “know-how”. The primary focus of the program is on technology, closely linked to the goals of users in the context of an organization or enterprise. The IT training program provides foundational and modern core knowledge of the field, along with in-depth knowledge in one of four orientations: Systems and Integration; Computer Networking; Information Security; and Computer Engineering. The program offers a well-balanced and appropriate distribution between theory and practice.

The majority of the faculty are Ph.D. holders or higher, trained at leading institutions domestically or in advanced countries, with extensive experience in teaching and research, especially in applied research. Students learn in a modern environment, practicing and experiencing under the guidance of technology experts with deep expertise in developing and implementing practical applications at CMC Corporation.

The IT training program also equips learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of the ITFE certification (Fundamental Information Technology Engineer).

Learners are capable of applying knowledge in selecting, designing, building, applying, integrating, and operating computer devices and systems for organizations and businesses. Corporation
